Description

Medicare spends over 30 billion dollars yearly on Evaluation and Management (E/M) Services. With continued escalated cost and billing errors, CMS announced sweeping changes for calendar year 2020 and 2021. Many were caught off guard by the proposals in the 2019 Final Rules with language such as collapsed payment for level 2-4 office and outpatient service and multiple procedural payment reductions. Due to severe pushback from the American Medical Association (AMA) and other stakeholders, CMS has recalled their original proposals and aligned with the AMA. What we are left with drastic changes in documentation requirement, E/M documentation guidelines and code selection.

Our expert Leonta Williams, BSHIM, RHIA, CCS, CCDS, CPC, CHONC, CEMC, CPCO, CRC will help you to prepare for these proposed changes and provide examples of how the new proposals will affect providers and their billing practices.
