Description
CPT® coding for cardiac catheterization and coronary interventions can be challenging given the technical complexity of these procedures and the anatomical knowledge necessary to select the most specific codes. To prevent claim denials, coders must also be familiar with bundling rules and coverage restrictions for certain catheter-assisted procedures.
During this presentation, Sharon Jane Oliver, CPC, CPMA, CPC-I, will provide an in-depth review of cardiac anatomy, diagnostic terminology, and CPT coding for percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and catheter-assisted heart procedures. She will discuss bundling issues that frequently result in claim denials and review the preauthorization process for cardiac catheterization services. The presentation will conclude with a live Q&A during which attendees can submit questions.
