Infusions are used in several specialties of medicine for the therapeutic, diagnostic, or prophylactic treatment of conditions and diseases. Infusions are
also a part of cancer treatment in the form of chemotherapy. Assigning the appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for these forms of treatment rely on good documentation and a knowledge of the codes that are used. There is a risk of loss of revenue when the coding does not represent all of the services performed, as well as the drugs and chemotherapy that are administered during these services.
